Xplor

Our plan was to go to Xplor, an outdoor adventure park that offers zip lining, ATVIng , and exploring underground caverns. But once again, we slept late and got a slow start. By the time we got down to the park, it was 1pm, and it would have been a waste to pay the entrance fee with it closing at 4:30. We decided to go to the evening version instead. Xplor Fuego is at night with a fire theme, and it’s all lit up red.
So, we suddenly had a few hours to kill in the area.

Someone recommended the garden of Eden cenote, which was nearby. The reviews were incredible, but they only took cash. We didn’t have enough pesos to get in, so we set off in search of a bank that we could get money from.

We went on a scenic tour of the Playa del Carmen/Puerto Aventuras area. We stopped for boba and went to a grocery store, and also hit a couple of pharmacies trying to find cold medicine without dye (I was pretty sick with a nasty cold.). Ultimately, we failed to get cash, or to find a cenote we could visit without cash. We did have a cool cultural experience, and we got to Xplor just before it opened for the night.

We started with ziplining. It was around sunset, so it was light enough to see the forest below us, but dark enough that it was cool going through the ring of fire at the end.

Xplor is built on top of caverns that are full of stalactites and stalagmites. It was really cool to walk through them, and to play in the water that made them.

One of the coolest, most unique things they have at Xplor is underground rivers that you can swim through. The one we went through was all lit up with red lights.

After eating dinner, we went to ride some ATV’s. We had gotten separated, so River and I went in one while Bill and Willow went in the other. Liam did a hammock swing into the water.

We had so much fun running around the park in the dark. They had food and hot chocolate in multiple places, and so many things to do.
