Jardin del Eden Cenote

We started the day with some critters on the walk to breakfast. The kids found a caterpillar, and then we saw some Agouti, which are adorable. We heard that the hotel has a lot of them because they eat mice.

Next, we headed to the Jardin del eden Cenotes. The entrance was pretty unassuming.

We came across iguanas in the parking lot. The kids were really excited.

The cenote had the MOST stunning water we had ever seen. Apparently, this is partly because the mangroves filter the water. This cenote had dying vegetation a few years ago, when the mangroves were being poisoned by sunscreen and insect repellant. Now, they ask everyone to shower and soap off any products before entering, and the water is crystal clear.

We all took turns jumping into the cenote. They had three different heights to jump from.

Bill dove off the tree branch, which was the highest option.

They had tons of those fish that nibble on your dead skin. People pay a lot of money for pedicures with these fish, but here you just have to sit still.

We snorkeled and saw a million little fish, and even a couple of turtles!

There were divers in the cenote. They were just a few feet deeper than us.

The kids have been enjoying the virgin pina coladas at the resort.

We ended the day with a nice italian dinner by the beach, and then the kids spent some time in the teen lounge.
