We started the day with breakfast at the hotel in our little nook by the pool. We played Coup, and Willow ordered the same pancakes she had yesterday, and the fruit plate was just as good.

We originally wanted to go to Santa Monica, but it felt a little cool and foggy, so we headed to the Last Bookstore. It’s in Downtown in what used to be a bank. They have books in all of the old vaults, and it was cool to walk into them.

The place was HUGE, and had really cool sculptures made from books.

We left the store with just a couple of books and some inexpensive used records.

We went to Donut Friend for a treat on our way to the next stop.

Next, we went to the Time Travel Mart. It’s run by a nonprofit that helps kids learn to write. The area in the back is a space where they teach creative writing, and the front is a kitschy shop that sells all the supplies a time traveler will need, along with some treasures from other times. 100% of profits go to the charity. It was really cute and super creative.

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped in an alley off of Pico to check out the street art. It’s incredible what people can do with spray paint!

We stopped for lunch and then went back to the hotel. We did an unsolved case files pack, figuring out who stole an adorable classroom bunny.

We solved the case just in time to make it to our escape room. We did the Mush Room at Escape Room 66. Liam started the game out locked in a cabinet, so he had to solve a puzzle to join the rest of us. We worked together really well, and got out with 16 minutes to spare!

Maybe the best thing was that the escape room had a cat!

We had dinner at a tiny little Egyptian restaurant that was so good. It felt like someone had invited us into their house for dinner.
