Camping at Palomar Mountain

This weekend we went camping near Palomar Observatory with Liam’s Cub Scout pack. The road was crazy and windy on the way up!

Friday night we setup camp. Liam practiced his whittling and we saw friends from pack 321. The group site was beautiful but we were surprised to learn that the water was turned off.

Saturday morning was cold and crisp. We make breakfast and played before heading to the observatory.

We had a big group so we did the self guided tour at the observatory, but we got a chance to ask questions of the staff.

After the observatory, Bill and River took a nap in the tent. This was super cute.

Willow and her friend Grace were inseparable all weekend.

The kids really had fun playing in the hammocks around camp.

After dinner, the scouts did skits and we sang campfire songs.

We had s’mores and played with glow sticks until bed time.

We woke up to cuddle time in the tent on Sunday morning. ❤️

While packing up camp, we found a millipede. The kids loved playing with it and were very gentle.

After we got everything packed, we headed down the mountain. We stopped at the Grafs’ house in Escondido for some water play with our dear friends.

We are all tired but grateful for a wonderful weekend.
