Willow and I had just one full day in London, so we only had time to get a little taste of the city. We had breakfast at our hotel. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was really nice. It was a lovely way to start the day.
Our first tube ride of the day got out at Monument station. This monument was built in the late 1600’s to commemorate the great London fire of 1666, when two thirds of London burned down.
We walked across London bridge, and had beautiful views down the River Thames.
We walked along the riverside to tower bridge. We found this cool market, and had gorgeous views. It’s interesting how London has very old buildings mixed in with super modern ones.
We got to ride at the very front of the upper floor of a red double decker bus
We went up to the sky garden and had fantastic views of the city.
It was teatime, but the tea we had booked had dyes in all of their cakes, so we changed our plans. We went back to our hotel with takeout for lunch and a little break. Then, we walked across the Golden Jubilee Bridge, which had a really interesting design.
We came across a hilarious and talented street magician in the park.
Next up: the London Eye! The views of the city were stunning.
We were getting tired by this point, so we treated ourselves to a pedi-cab ride to Buckingham Palace. It had a Bluetooth speaker, so we connected my phone and played Taylor Swift along the way.
There were a couple of guards at Buckingham Palace. They stood in front of these things that look a bit like porta-potties, and we weren’t sure why. The fence couldn’t keep Willow out.
These red booths are so cool! They’ve been retrofitted with modern equipment inside so they actually work. This one missing its handset though.
This yarn bombed post box was adorable
These apartments each have tiny, cute little balconies
The London streets were scenic – it seemed like everywhere we looked were cool old buildings.
Apparently, brolly means umbrella 😂
We liked these cute dog finials on the handrail in our hotel elevator
At dinner, we had pistamisu for dessert. It’s sweet pistachio cream mixed with mascarpone cheese, and it was to die for.
